Hamza Latheef

With a BA in Human Rights and History from the esteemed University of Essex as well as an LLB from the Maldives National University under his belt, Hamza started his legal career as Paralegal and later Associate at Suood & Anwar where he engaged in research, counseling, advocacy and corporate services. He was later appointed as a consultant for the government-implemented ADB-commissioned Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Project under which he assisted in carrying out a comprehensive review of local laws and made recommendations some which have been adopted. Before joining our firm he most recently served as Director Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Economic Development in which capacity he acted as counsel to the Board of Investment (Special Economic Zones) and also General legal counsel to the Ministry. He has drafted laws, regulations and amendments to the same in addition to being a published author of rights-based publications and peer-reviewed articles on law and human rights. He is also a part-time lecturer for the University of West of England’s LLB program offered by Villa College. Hamzas clientele includes several large Resort suppliers and real estate developers active in the Maldives.
